The World Karate Federation has announced that the 2021 Karate 1-Premier League Rabat has been postponed due to the effects of the coronavirus pandemic. Since the Karate 1-Premier League Rabat moves now to October, the 2021 Karate 1-Premier League Lisbon will replace the tournament in Rabat as the Olympic qualifying event.

While big efforts have been made by all the parties involved to celebrate the event, the WKF has been forced to postpone the event amid the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic.

The 2021 Karate 1-Premier League Rabat will now take place from October 29 to 31, 2021.

KARATE 1-PREMIER LEAGUE LISBON INCLUDED IN OLYMPIC QUALIFICATION PROCESS

With the rescheduling of the Karate 1-Premier League Rabat to October, the WKF confirms that the 2021 Karate 1-Premier League Lisbon will be included as a replacement event in the Olympic Qualification process.

As it was previously communicated, in the case that the Karate 1-Premier League Rabat was not to be held before the closure of the Olympic Standing, a substitution event would be introduced. Therefore, the 2021 Karate 1-Premier League Lisbon is now included in the Olympic Qualification process. Consequently, karate athletes will have the opportunity to add points to the Tokyo Olympic Standings in the event in Lisbon.

The 2021 Karate 1-Premier League Lisbon is scheduled to be held from April 30 to May 2.
