Ramanouskaya and more than 2,000 other Belarusian sports figures, coaches and athletics personnel signed an open letter of protest condemning the 2020 Belarusian presidential election as fraudulent. Alexander Lukashenko was reelected, receiving over 80% of the votes. He has won every presidential election since 1994, and has repeatedly denied all allegations of fraud.
