(ATR) Two-time gold medalist in biathlon, Evi Sachenbacher-Stehle of Germany, failed a drug test and was kicked off the German Olympic team.
A statement from the DOSB, Germany’s Olympic committee, confirmed both her test samples tested positive for the stimulant methylhexanamine.
German Chef de Mission Michael Vesper said in a statement the news was "a big disappointment" but it shows "the control systems work."
Sachenbacher-Stehle has five medals in biathlon.
In Sochi, she competed in four events, with her best finish being fourth in the mass start event.
Her case is the second positive doping case from Sochi, after the Italian Olympic committee removed bobsledder William Frullani from the team.
Sachenbacher-Stehle said the positive test was the result of tainted supplement.
"I am experiencing the worst nightmare you can imagine, because I can not explain at all how I could have a positive sample," she said in a statement.
She said she had not "deliberately taken any banned substances at any time."
