A modern and interactive website for a great project
Dynamic, original, interactive, modern and with a primacy of the audio-visual information are some of the main adjectives that describe the new website of the Madrid 2016 Olympic bid (www.madrid2016.es), which was launched earlier today.
Mercedes Coghen, Madrid 2016 CEO, and Raul Chapado, Sports and Projects Director, were the first persons to visit the new website, after virtually entering the inside of the website and playing with the design of this ambitious communications tool.
The Mayor of Madrid, Alberto Ruiz-Gallardon, said he is proud for the inauguration of this new channel. “We offer the latest technologies to the citizens of Madrid because, as well as participating in our bid, we want them to be perfectly informed about all the news and initiatives related to the Madrid 2016 Olympic bid”, he stated.
“All the visitors will find complete information about Madrid’s Olympic project in a way that no other applicant city has tried before, with a complete primacy of the audio-visual information. Our TV news service will show the quality of our project to all the citizens”, he added.
The Mayor of Madrid also explained that the Madrid 2016 website is available in three languages (Spanish, English and French). He also reminded that this website is just the first phase of a project that will expand gradually and will reach its final appearance in February 2008, with a new and upgraded design and contents.
The website, in depth
The innovative design consists in five different sections, represented by five giant balls with the Olympic colours. The blue ball, entitled “Welcome”, shows a message from Mercedes Coghen, Madrid 2016 CEO, who invites us to visit the website. It also includes a message from the Mayor of Madrid and from approximately 100 athletes, representing all the sports in the Olympic programme and showing their support to the Madrid 2016 Olympic bid.
The green ball, entitled “Our Candidature”, is divided in four different sections and includes a complete guide to the core of the Spanish capital’s Olympic project: the message and concept of the bid (“Madrid 2016”), information about the city (“Our City”), the history of the Spanish Olympic and Paralympic sport (“Our Sport”) and the biographies of the members of the bid (“Our Team”).
The red ball shows the latest news about the Madrid 2016 Olympic bid, with lots of videos and pictures. All the articles will be available in three languages (Spanish, English and French), whilst the videos will be recorded in Spanish and English.
There is also a special section dedicated to the Madrid 2016 sponsorship programme, represented by the black ball, where the visitors will be able to download all the information about the four different categories of sponsors that exist.
Finally, there is a section called “Contact and Volunteering”, represented by the yellow ball, where all the citizens can send their suggestions and messages of support to the Madrid 2016 Olympic bid, as well as signing up as volunteers.
