Brazilian Ticket Requests for Rio 2016 Top One Million

(ATR) According to Rio 2016, residents from all 26 Brazilian states have applied for tickets in each event.

(ATR) Brazilians have applied for over one million tickets since sales have opened.

According to a release from Rio 2016, Brazilian residents in all 26 states have applied for tickets in every Olympic sports.

Online ticket sales opened on Mar. 31, allowing domestic residents their first opportunity to secure Olympic tickets.

Tickets will be allocated in two lotteries before online and in-person purchasing is available. Registration for the first lottery runs through April, and registrants will be notified in June if they secure tickets.

Rio 2016 said the top sports that have been requested are volleyball, football and basketball, along with tickets for the opening ceremony.

"We have received requests for all the sports in the programm and fans from throughout Brazil are buying tickets," Donovan Ferreti, Rio 2016s ticketing director said in a statement.

"This shows that these are not just Rio’s Games, but all of Brazil’s."

Non-Brazilian residents must apply for tickets through the list of authorized ticket resellers (ATRs). In order to purchase tickets domestically, applicants must provide a Brazilian address, tax number and mobile phone before entering payment information.
