Worldwide television coverage and high definition standard for the FIVB World Cup: 18 broadcasters will show the Volleyball stars to millions of viewers
Tokyo, 31st October 2007 – The 12 Women’s teams arrived in Tokyo and Hamamatsu today, ready for the World Cup competition that will start on Friday 2nd November: a great FIVB event which will grant three Olympic entries. In the meanwhile the big challenge for TV coverage is running fast under the outstanding efforts of the Host Broadcaster, Fuji Television Network.
25 cameras only for venue A in Tokyo are already in place to guarantee the best Volleyball ever seen to the Japanese viewers and all the International broadcasters which will get the video feed from Juji production. 800 people will work for Fuji Television on the whole event, using more than 100 kilometres of cables. For the first time, the FIVB World Cup will be produced in full high definition, giving a huge plus to the TV Volleyball image.
Fuji Television will offer prime time shows to its viewers, but other 17 top broadcasters have signed the agreement with the FIVB to have live or delayed matches.
KBS Sky Korea, Shanghai Media Group (Great Sport Channel), PCCW Hong Kong, Channel 4 Thailand, RTS Serbia, Puerto Rico, HiTV Nigeria, RTR Russia, NBC, ICRT Cuba, TyC Argentina, Telesport Romania, KBC Kenya, Ma Chaine Sport (France), Al Jazeera Sport, VTV Vietnam and Rai (Italy) will ensure a worldwide coverage. Live matches will be seen by more than 400 millions TV households worldwide in more than 50 countries, which represent a potential audience exceeding 1 billion people. Moreover, thanks to the TV news distribution, 180 countries will have footage from the event.
Press conferences
The Head Coaches will answer to the questions of the press during two FIVB official press conferences in Tokyo and Hamamatsu tomorrow, Thursday, 1st November, at 18.00 hrs.
Head Coaches of Japan, Korea, Serbia, Italy, Thailand and Dominican Republic will be available to the press in “Nishiki” meeting room, Keio Plaza Hotel, Tokyo, while Head Coaches from Cuba, Kenya, Peru, U.S.A., Brazil and Poland will have their meeting with the media in “Umi” room, Hotel Concorde, Hamamatsu.
