(ATR) The Vancouver 2010 flame heads north through Alberta reaching Calgary on Day 81 of the torch relay.

Weekend highlights include the Vancouver Olympic torch relay traveling through 25 towns and being carried by three Olympians. A Vancouver 2010 cauldron lit by the flame traveled across the 100-year-old Lethbridge viaduct while being pulled by a vintage handrail car.

Today, the torch relay departs Kainai and proceeds through Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump, Fort Macleod, Granum, Claresholm, Stavely and Nanton.

In High River, a welcome celebration will take place at Bob Snodgrass Arena and will include musical performances.

The torch will take a ride in a horse-drawn fire wagon through the town located in southwestern Alberta.

The flame heads north to Okotoks where athletics Olympian Ian Gordon, canoe/kayak Olympian Corrina Kennedy and swimming Olympian Gail Amundrud run with the torch.

The Olympic Torch reaches its final destination point of the day in Calgary located south of the province, in an area of foothills and high plains in the Grassland region.

Calgary is the largest city in Alberta and in 1988 became the first Canadian city to host Winter Olympic Games.

Alpine skiing Olympian Jim Hunter, badminton Olympian David Humble, luge Olympian Kathy Salmon and gymnastic Olympian Kyle Shewfelt will carry the flame through the third largest city in Canada.

A welcome celebration will take place at Olympic Plaza. The festivities planned include performances by Canadian music artist Crystal Plamondon, introductions of Calgary Olympians from past Games and sponsors Coca-Cola and RBC will provide additional entertainment.

Tomorrow, the Olympic Flame will travel through 7 towns, be carried by six Olympians and two torchbearers will carry the torch while skating on the Olympic Oval in Calgary.
