A$AP Rocky was arrested at the Los Angeles airport on Wednesday morning in connection with a shooting that took place in 2021.
The rapper landed at the California airport after his much-publicized trip to Barbados with his girlfriend Rihanna and was detained by authorities waiting for him at the airstrip, NBC News reported.
LAPD made the arrest with the help of the National Security Investigations team of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Service.
Rocky, 33, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, was reportedly investigated by the LAPD for his alleged involvement in a November 6 shooting.
The victim, who survived, told police that the rapper, who was walking with two other people, approached him with a gun on the street. The victim claimed that Mayers shot him three to four times, according to police reports.
The shooting had not been made public.
Rocky was previously in legal trouble in 2019 when he was arrested and imprisoned in Sweden for a month for his involvement in a street fight.
A Swedish judge ordered the release of Rocky and two members of his team. In a statement after his release, Rocky reflected on his one-month period in jail, calling it a “very difficult and humiliating experience.”
