The Congress of Mexico City hosted an event that rarely occurs in the Mexican legislature, since the standard-bearers of Moreno Regeneración Nacional (Morena) chose to “blow up” the session on Thursday, March 17, in order to prevent Sandra Cuevas, mayor of La Cuauhtémoc, from applying for a license to formal way.

Specifically, the legislative majority of Regeneration Nacional and other parties promoting the so-called 4T (Labour Party and Green Ecologist Party of Mexico) decided not to appear in plenary when the flag bearer of the coalition Va por México would present her 15-day license to attend the judicial process to which she is subject.

In this way, the plenary session of the local congress would not have a quorum, since at 10:00am (central Mexico time), there were only 22 of the 66 legislators representing the 16 mayors in plenary. As a result, the session had to be canceled and the admission of the license was postponed.
