Salma Hayek would return for the sequel to “The Cat in Boots: The Last Wish” in 2022

It's been more than ten years since The Cat in Boots hit theaters to continue expanding Shrek's popular animated franchise. However, after a long wait, the project starring Antonio Banderas has begun to take shape and will be titled Puss In Boots: The Last Wish

On March 14, Deadline confirmed that the actress from Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz, Salma Hayek will return as Kitty Softpaws to accompany Antonio Banderas on his return as the Cat in Boots, they also gave the detail that for the sequel Harvey Guillén will be added to the cast as Dog and other figures who lent their voices for the film produced by Universal Studios.

On this occasion, the Spanish and Mexican cast is joined by personalities such as Florence Pugh (Black Widow), Olivia Colman (The Favourite), Wagner Moura (Narcos: Mexico), Ray Winstone (Black Widow), John Mulaney (Big Mouth), Da'Vine Joy Randolph (The Lost City), Anthony Mendez (Jane the Virgin) and Samson Kayo (Our Flag Means Death).

On the other hand, the same entertainment portal a few hours ago on March 14 shared through its digital platforms the first image of El Gato con Botas: El último deseo.

This project will be directed by Joel Crawford and produced by Mark Swift. Both have been responsible for The Croods: A New Era, which earned them a Golden Globe nomination for Best Picture. The trailer for Puss In Boots: The Last Wish will be released on March 15 with a view to the premiere on September 23, 2022.

The first film was released in 2011, it was a spin-off of Shrek that follows the adventures of Gato before his debut in Shrek 2. The film was produced by Dreamworks and directed by Chris Miller. It is the sixth film in which both actors share a lineup. Mariachi, Desperado, Frida, Once upon a time in Mexico and Spy Kids 3-D Game Over complete the list.

On the other hand, the first Cat in Boots was a commercial success, with an impressive international box office of 554 million dollars around the world.

Currently, the performer, who was nominated for an Oscar for giving life to Frida Kahlo in 2002, is experiencing an unbeatable moment as an actress in Hollywood, following her participation in The House of Gucci with Lady Gaga, Al Pacino and Adam Driver; and after her role with Marvel in The Eternals where she shared credits with other great actors such as Angelina Jolie, Thena; Richard Madden, Ikaris; Kit Harington, Black Knight and Oscar-winning director Chloé Zhao.

It is worth remembering that another major star she recently received was in early 2022, when she was invited to give life to Hera in a commercial for the launch of a line of electric cars from a renowned German origin and capital brand during the Super Bowl 2022.
