One week before Russia's first ever Winter Games, the Olympic Park on the shore of the Black Sea is ready to welcome guests from around the world. In addition to watching the world’s best athletes compete, visitors will also immerse themselves in the exciting Games. Spectators will be treated to a wide array of activities in the Park: performances by the best music and dance groups, fun contests and master classes, a chance to sample foods from many ethnic cuisines, and take photographs with the Sochi 2014 Olympic Torch. The Olympic Park will offer almost around-the-clock excitement, from 7:00 in the morning until 2:00 every night, with up to 120,000 guests visiting daily.
All the main events in Olympic Park will take place at pavilions and in halls receiving the official delegations - a total of 25 in all. The National Olympic Committees from Russia, Italy, Canada, the United States, Japan, and Kazakhstan will open their Hospitality Houses to guests, as well as the Organizing Committee for Pyeongchang 2018 and the country of Switzerland. The Park is also home to exhibition pavilions run by Games Partners and the Sochi 2014 Organizing Committee. It also features a Russian Regions Exhibit, Father Frost's House, and a Russian Fans House.
Music ensembles and orchestras will fill the Olympic Park with music and contribute to the festive atmosphere throughout the day.
A total of over 1000 cultural events will take place in Olympic Park during the Games.
Guests of Olympic Park will be able to buy licensed merchandise at the Main Olympic Store, take advantage of information services for guests, visit the Lost and Found desk, exchange money, and, of course, buy tickets to athletic events.
Medals Plaza
At the very center of the Park is one of its most important Activity Sites: the Olympic Celebration and Awards Area, also known as the Medals Plaza. During the day, the Medals Plaza will operate as a Live Site, where spectators can watch the competitions on big screens from various athletic venues in the Mountain and Coastal Clusters. Starting at 6:30 PM, evening shows will be held here: performances by renowned musical and dance groups from all over Russia, demonstrating the immense variety of the country's cultural life. The Plaza will also host the Olympic Champions Award Ceremony and a celebratory concert featuring famous Russian and foreign artists. The finalists of the Sochi 2014 Cultural Olympiad will also perform at Medals Plaza, where they will be presenting the cultural traditions of 62 regions. Each evening, the Medals Plaza will welcome over 20,000 guests.
Russian Fans House
Guests will learn about the sports making up the XXII Olympic Winter Games and the athletes taking part in the competitions at the Russian Fans house. All events at the House are designed to tell the story of the athletic prowess of the Russian teams competing and to build excitement for the sporting events. In the House, fans will meet both current Russian athletes and legendary Olympians of Russia and the Soviet Union. Leading athletic experts, coaches, and other famous figures from the sports world are all scheduled to visit the House. Guests will be able to speak with sports legends, take pictures and get autographs from their favorite heroes. The House of Fans of the Russian team will be open every day from 10 AM - 11 PM and will operate until the closing of the Olympic Games. The site will be open to all.
Hospitality Houses at the Olympic Park
The Russian Regions Exhibit is located at the Park's main entrance. It will be divided into eight parts, representing the country's federal districts. All parts of the exhibit are designed with one unifying conceptual style.
Unique in form and appearance, the exhibit will introduce guests to Russia’s natural landscapes, the cultures of those living there and the country’s long-standing tradition of hospitality.
There will be thematic exhibitions at the site every day, as well as performances by dance groups, theater troupes, and artists who will demonstrate different types of ethnic music. Exhibit guests will also be able to sample ethnic cuisine and visit exhibitions dedicated to Russia's various ethnic groups. Master classes on decorative arts and crafts will also be available. Up to 5000 people are expected to visit the exhibit every day.
The Krasnodar Territory Hospitality House will tell the story of the cultural and historical traditions of the peoples living in the region where the Games are being held. Exhibits at that House feature several thematic areas.
The Adygea House will host many exciting performances by Adygean cultural groups, plus shows featuring clothing made by skilled local masters. The Kunatskaya House will host meetings between elders of the Adygean community of Kuban and visitors to the House.
The Korean Pyeongchang Hospitality House is planning exciting cultural and entertainment programs for the Sochi Olympics, including traditional music and dance performances from South Korea. Spectators, athletes, and members of the press will be able to visit an exhibit dedicated to the Pyeongchang 2018 Winter Olympics.
On February 7, the Swiss Hospitality House will open. The House of Switzerland will offer acoustic music concerts featuring Swiss performers and invite you to sample traditional dishes.
The Japanese Hospitality House will entice guests about the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Summer Games. The House also features a comfortable terrace for visitors to relax.
The Kazakh Hospitality House will host press conferences for journalists and feature tastings of traditional Kazakh dishes.
Canada, the US, and Italy will also have Hospitality Houses at Olympic Park.
Father Frost's House
On February 3, Russia's beloved Father Frost - the Russian Santa Claus - will open his home to all visitors. The legendary character's house was built using elements of the wooden architecture techniques unique to the Russian North. Visitors will also be able to meet Father Frost, take part in master classes, sample traditional Russian dishes, and visit the workshops of folk artists and craftsmen. A post office that delivers letters to Father Frost is located at the entrance to the House.
Main Olympic Shop
The Main Olympic Shop, located near the Medal Plaza, features an area over 5,000 square meters. The shop, made in the form of three mirrored cubes that symbolize the Olympic podium, attracts the attention of Park guests.
More than 2,000 licensed Sochi 2014 products will be available for purchase: colorful pins and keychains, children's developmental toys, unique clothing and accessories for pets, all the beloved mascots of the upcoming Games, and much more. The Sochi 2014 collection will be available for purchase, including sweatshirts, several types of tracksuits, long and short sleeved polo shirts, warm jackets and trousers, sweaters and cardigans, men's large knit jersey apparel, t-shirts, and a large selection of accessories. Of course, no true fan can leave the shop without the main symbol of the upcoming Games - Olympic mittens!
BOSCO, General Partner of the Sochi Games, opened 30 Olympic shops with a total area over 10,000 square meters at all competition and non-competition venues, in Olympic Villages and Media Centers.
Pavilions of the Sochi 2014 Marketing Partners
Coca-Cola Park’s traveling exhibit "In Motion!" promotes the importance of an active lifestyle. After the Olympic Games, the exhibit will set off on a journey through other cities across Russia. This spectacular journey into the world of Coca-Cola, enables visitors to learn about the company's history, brand, ingredients of the legendary beverage, and company relations with the Olympic Movement and sports. It also features interactive sites where everyone can learn how to be physically active at home and outdoors, and train like professional athletes.
The pavilion of the official timekeeper of the Olympic Games, Omega, has a shop selling the legendary watches. In-house employees will demonstrate the unique system of timekeeping and time-stamping designed especially for major sporting events.
The P&G Family Home in the Olympic Park is intended as a "home away from home" for families of Olympians. Visitors can relax and socialize while continuing to follow the competitions, and P&G brands are providing families of Olympians beauty services from Wella, Pantene and Cover Girl, manicures in the colors of national flags, and Gillette barber services for men.
The MegaFon pavilion in Sochi created a unique project called MegaFaces, in which every guest has the opportunity to make their mark in history. Visitors must scan their image at the company’s pavilion during the Games, which will be featured in the dimensions of 6x8 meters on the building's facade in the Olympic Park.
In the Samsung pavilion, the company's latest products will be presented, and interactive games, contests and promotional activities for visitors will be organized.
Volkswagen Group Rus is presenting models of the automobile brand in the park, and will perform an entertaining show, "Team competition." On the wall of the pavilion there is a giant interactive screen broadcasting key sporting events of the day and events held in the pavilion. Twice a day, dancers led by Ilia Averbukh, a Sochi 2014 Ambassador, will familiarize guests with the achievements of different countries' teams. This will be done as a dance show with elements of digital graphics.
Near the Sberbank pavilion, an ice mountain will be created for visitors who want to test their climbing skills. Professional athletes and climbers will hold demonstrations as well. Thanks to the General Partner of the Games, in the very heart of sporting passion, the site will host celebrations and awards of the RED ROCKS music festival, whose history is closely linked with the new Russian Olympic history. The Red Rocks festival has already visited more than 37 Russian cities and is now going to treat guests in the Olympic Park. The festival is planning a five-day music marathon featuring famous foreign and Russian names. In the Rosneft pavilion, there will be nine zones: interactive games, contests, and presentations on "augmented reality" technology. The pavilion's plasma screens will broadcast real-time competition results and show a map of the Olympic Park. Furthermore, using interactive touch panels, fans can leave their wishes and reviews, propose the best "chant," paint their faces in the colors of their team flag, and on special, realistic computer simulations can ride on skis or a snowboard. In addition, Rosneft pavilion visitors will be entertained by a unique, animated journey into the history of Russian Olympic successes.
Microsoft will hold demonstrations on the company's products and launch a wide entertainment program for guests and fans in its pavilion.
In the Abrau Durso pavilion, guests can have their pictures taken in motion. Dimensional photos are gathered on video, which will be placed on www.coub.com and the project's Facebook page. The most popular video will receive a prize from the partner.
Young visitors to the Olympic Park can spend time in the children's playground.
