An unusual ambassador of the Torino 2006 Winter Olympics will journey through China for two months. Two Ferraris will travel 15,000 miles throughout the country.

The idea for the Ferraris came from Luca Cordero di Montezemolo, who is the president of Ferrari, as well as president of the TOROC Honorary Committee.

Mario Pescante, Torino 2006 government supervisor, likes the promotion.

"Ferrari and Torino 2006 are two symbols of Italy at its best," said Pescante. "Italy that wants to win, that joins style and skill, that loves great challenges and fears no comparisons with the rest of the world."

The two cars are 612 Scaglietti models. They are capable of seating four people and can reach a top speed of 196 mph. The cars have a retail price of $259,855.

The plan calls for 30 journalists (15 Chinese and 15 international) to drive the Ferraris. The trip will start and end in Shanghai, and will run from August 29th to October 29th.
