For the fourth and last time she married Roman banker Alexander Berger in 1956 with whom she spent 18 years. In this relationship, the actress wanted to have another child but unfortunately lost the baby during the filming of the film Flor de Mayo. The union ended when Berger died of lung cancer in 1974. During the government of Miguel Alemán Valdés, La Doña was linked to the then president because of rumors that he was his lover, however, she herself denied it in her autobiography María Félix: All my wars where she mentioned: “I was tied to him as a mistress throughout his government and the truth is that I didn't even get to see him up close. It was rumored, among many other lies, that there was an underground tunnel between my house in Polanco and Los Pinos, where the president would enter to come and see me.”

Undoubtedly, one of the most controversial events about her life was her supposed attraction to her own brother José Pablo Félix two years older than her, however her parents separated them to avoid incestuous relationship by sending Pablo to the Military College, according to Enrique Krauze in his autobiography. Some time later Pablo committed suicide, although there is a theory that it was actually a murder, which the actress supported by saying that he was murdered because he had a hole in his back.

In an interview with Enrique Krauze, the writer of her autobiography, the actress made the only comment about this impossible love: “Seeing him in his military uniform, I thought about finding myself a boy like him, who had his skin and eyes, but who was not my brother. It was silly because the perfume of incest has no other love.”

“I think it was also one of my loves,” she said in an interview, where she also stated that she was in love with him, even though she hadn't tried anything.
