Baseball and softball, squash, lacrosse, flag football and cricket received the support of the Executive Board of the International Olympic Committee and will be part of the sports program in 2028. The addition of weightlifting and modern pentathlon was also reestablished. Boxing is the only sport still under review.

The IOC reported that the decision to be taken in October is delayed and there is no specific date for the final program to be known. Nine sports are looking for their place in Los Angeles. “I can't hide it, I'm a big cricket fan, it would make sense for it to be Olympic,” Bach said.
