Hugo Chávez Arévalo presented this Sunday his irrevocable resignation from the position of General Manager and as a member of the Board of Petroleos del Peru Petroperú S.A., a position he had held since October 8, 2021

The state-owned company announced that the departure of Chávez Arevalo will take effect from March 21, 2022, when a Board session will be held in which the appointment of his replacement will be as an agenda item.

Chávez Arévalo is an economist graduated from the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos, graduated from the Master's Degree in Economics and with a PhD in Economics with a major in Global Economic Management from the same higher house of studies. Before becoming general manager of Petroperú, he was head of the Office of Advisors of the Economy Commission of the Congress of the Republic, which achieved the approval of Law 28840: Law on Strengthening and Modernizing the Petroleos del Peru Company (Petroperú); he has been regional director of Energy and Mines of the Áncash Regional Government.
