Empresas Públicas de Medellín recently reported that there is already a list of the ten companies that applied to participate in the final works of Hidroituango.

Last Friday, April 1 at 4:00 p.m. the deadline for interested domestic and foreign companies to acquire the right to participate in the public request for bids, for the completion of the civil works of the final phase of Hidroituango, ended.

It is worth mentioning that in order to enter the bid, interested companies had to cancel $4 million. Only in this way could they acquire the specifications to be part of the contractual process.

The ten companies that acquired this right are: Yellow River Co Ltd., Schrader Camargo Ingenieros Asociados, Ingema S.A., Mincivil S.A., Termotecnica Coindustrial S.A.S., Sinohydro Bureau & Co Ltd. Branch Colombia, Civilec Ltd., Coninsa Ramon H. S.A., Serviminas S.A.S., and 4 Towers S.A.S.

It should be noted that only one of the companies that make up the CCCI Ituango consortium, the current construction contractor of Hidroituango, paid to participate in the public bid request. This is Coninsa Ramon H. S.A.

According to the public offer, the new contract would start on September 1 of this year. Likewise, it was established that the contractual agreement would have a duration of 1,125 days, that is, approximately three years.

Hidroituango opening date confirmed

A few weeks ago Jorge Andrés Cardozo, manager of EPM, assured from Hidroituango that the project will enter the final stage to complete the remaining works and start the operation of the hydroelectric and power generation.

So, on July 26, the hydroelectric plant will come into operation. This date was determined after evaluations with a work schedule, as well as the period within which the first of the project's generation units, which number eight, will be able to come into operation.

“The day we are going to fulfill it. This unit that will enter with 300 megas capacity, will help the system to have more reliability, it will help all of Colombia that in the event of a child phenomenon or prolonged dry season have a backup of energy that is clean, renewable, and energy that is cheap,” said Cardozo.

According to the EPM manager, the date was also set with the aim of allowing President Iván Duque to visit the project before the end of his term in office.
