Parts of the Olympic Cauldron in Vancouver have been damaged according to local police.

It’s not clear when the act of vandalism occurred, but the damage was discovered last weekend by staff members at the Vancouver Convention Centre.

“Each piece of glass on the Vancouver 2010 Cauldron is custom-made,” said the media relations department at the Vancouver Convention Centre. “We are currently working with the Vancouver Police Department, and looking into the cost to replace the damaged piece.”

The damage estimate is around $10,000 according to the Vancouver Police Department. No arrests have been made, but Constable Jason Doucette with Vancouver Police Department’s Public Affairs told Daily Hive the damage was caused by two unidentified suspects in the early morning hours of October 1.

The 10-meter tall Olympic Cauldron is now located at Jack Poole Plaza by the Vancouver Convention Centre.
