Six workers fell off a roof Thursday at the bobsled center for the upcoming 2014 Sochi Olympics when the snow they were clearing "slid to the ground."

Witnesses from the AP said one of the men "appeared to have injured a leg and was taken away on a stretcher."

Other workers reportedly "sustained minor injuries."

The men were clearing snow at the Sanki Sliding Center, which will stage the bobsled and luge events at the Sochi Games.

AP witnesses say the workers seemed to have been harnessed to the building, but were swept down the 30-foot high roof with the snow.

On-the-scene security officers ordered a group of AP staffers to stop taking photographs with their phone, "and briefly seized one of the devices."

Sochi 2014 said in a statement sent to ATR: "On the 16th January, six maintenance workers fell whilst clearing a large amount of snow from the roof of the Sanki Sliding Center. All six employees received immediate medical attention. Five workers were taken to hospital and are being treated for minor injuries, three of which have been since discharged."
