AISTS is pleased to announce the establishment of a new scholarship to study the AISTS MSA in Lausanne, the Olympic Capital and World cluster of sport governing organisations: The AISTS Athlete Scholarship, as it will be called, is exclusively available for elite athletes.

The AISTS MSA, a one year multi-disciplinary master degree in sports management, co-signed by the EPFL, Universities of Lausanne and Geneva as well as the IDHEAP is attended each year by professionals from all over the world and from different academic and professional backgrounds.

By establishing this new scholarship opportunity, AISTS aims to support elite athletes who wish to transfer their sporting success into a career in sports management.

The AISTS MSA has welcomed Olympic medallist in previous editions of the programme. "Athletes’ experience of sport is extremely valuable and unique, as it touches on different areas of the sports world (medical in regards to training and nutrition, technology for the gear they use in their sport, law for contracts etc), all areas that are taught on our programme. Welcoming athletes to our programme represents a benefit for all participants." says Dr Stricker, AISTS Executive Director.

Athletes spend most of their time on training and performance preparation, often leaving little opportunity for full time employment. Financial support for further studies is therefore necessary in many cases. The AISTS will award two Athlete Scholarships, each representing a value of 12,800CHF and to be used towards the 2013 AISTS MSA course fee of 25,600CHF.

To be considered for the Scholarship, candidates must apply by 15th August 2012.
