Along with the Summer Universiade, the FISU Conference Gwangju 2015 will be held from July 11 to 14 at the Gwangju City Hall and Honam University Gwangsan Campus.
The International University Sports Federation (FISU), Gwangju 2015 Universiade Organizing Committee (GUOC) and Honam University is in full gear to host the four-day academic conference.
The main theme of this year’s conference is ‘The Impact of University sport on the Global Community.’ Approximately 1,000 Korean and international university sports officials including FISU President Claude-Louis Gallien, FISU Secretary-General Eric Saintrond take part in the event.
The sub-themes include ‘eco-environmental impact,’ ‘humanity and social development,’ ‘innovation,’ and ‘global education developments’. Also, as part of the GUOC-FISU Legacy Project, an anti-doping text book will be introduced as well.
The GUOC, FISU, and World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) have developed an anti-doping textbook and online-based education hub since 2012. They have selected a total of 9 universities by each continent, went through anti-doping pilot tests and developed a textbook.
In addition, they established an E-learning hub (antidopinglearninghub.org) for all universities in the world. Anti-doping textbook is not only for the sports community, but also for the general public.
The FISU Conference Gwangju 2015 will be a platform to not only stimulate research on university sport but also establish a global network within the academic and sporting community.
