2012 Synchronized Swimming Oversold

LOCOG wants back thousands of extra synchronized swimming tickets following a human data error that left several sessions oversold.

According to a BBC report, the mistake occurred after the first round of sales in March 2011, a window during which the event was not oversubscribed.

"As a result of finalizing the seating configurations in our venues and reconciling the millions of Olympic and Paralympic ticket orders against the seating plans for around 1,000 sporting sessions, we have discovered an error in seats available in four synchronized swimming sessions," a London 2012 spokeswoman was quoted Wednesday by the British news agency.

"In December we contacted around 3,000 customers who had applied for tickets in the four sessions during the second round sales process. We are exchanging their synchronized swimming tickets for tickets in other sports that they originally applied for."

Though this isn’t the first glitch to hit LOCOG’s ticketing process, synchronized swimming likely wasn’t top choice for at least some of the 3,000 buyers affected this time around.

It’s expected they’ll now have dibs on some of the possibly more desirable million-plus tickets due to be released in May once venue seating arrangements are confirmed.

Team USA Talks "Dream Team"

LeBron James says a new "Dream Team" is in the works to rival Team USA’s original 12-man wrecking crew.

Charles Barkley,Larry Bird, Clyde Drexler, Patrick Ewing, Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan, Christian Laettner, Karl Malone, Chris Mullin, Scottie Pippen, David Robinson and John Stockton won by an average of 43 points en route to basketball gold at Barcelona 1992, the first Olympics at which NBA players competed.

"We can stack up with those guys," James now tells FOX Sports Florida.

"They set the standard for USA Basketball in '92 with all the great players they had. But we have some great ones, as well. We havesome Hall of Famers, some champions. So it's going to be a great (team)."

The two-time NBA MVP’s comments echo USA Basketball chairman Jerry Colangelo’s suggestion last week that this summer’s squad will be "a fair comparison" with the "Dream Team" of 20 years ago.

Kobe Bryant, Dwight Howard, Carmelo Anthony, Chris Paul, Kevin Durant, Derrick Rose and others are expected to star alongside Miami Heat teammates James, Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh in London.

Olympian Ties Knot

Olympic figure skater Johnny Weir is ringing in the New Year as a married man.

Weir tied the knot with Atlanta lawyer Victor Voronov on Dec. 30 in a New York City courthouse. The couple is planning a wedding for the summer.

"I am so happy to have found my match," Weir said in a statement to the AP.

"Marrying Victor has been the greatest moment in my life and I will work very hard to make him proud and happy."

Weir claimed the U.S. national championships in 2004, 2005 and 2006 and participated in two Winter Olympics. He hasn't competed since Vancouver 2010.
