On 27 March 2009, the 104 members of the General Association of International Sports Organisations (GAISF/AGFIS) decided to change the organisation’s name into SportAccord.

This brand already enjoyed a strong popularity in the sports community through the SportAccord Convention, the annual gathering created and organised jointly by GAISF (now SportAccord), and the two organisations of Olympic Sports Federations, ASOIF and AIOWF.

While using the same name, the two entities remain separate and independent, even if working hand in hand with one common objective: uniting and supporting the international sports organisations.

SportAccord/GAISF will focus on providing services to its members on a day-to-day basis, while SportAccord Convention focuses on organising two annual events: the International Convention and the International Federations Forum.

Here are key details of the two organisations.
