(ATR) The Hungarian Olympic bid has secured the services of a U.K.-based marketing and communications company to aid its 2024 ambitions.
Headquartered in London, M has extensive sport, Olympic, government and corporate campaign experience.
Most recently, it worked on strategy and communications for the Madrid 2020 Olympic bid. It also led the international relations and PR strategies for Lima’s successful bid to host the 130th IOC Session in September 2017. The session is the venue for the 2024 host city vote.
Budapest 2024’s new communications director Ivan Rozsa tells Around the Rings that M has just been recruited to start working for the bid.
"The M team will advise on strategic international communications, marketing and international relations," he told ATR.
"M will be working through and with Hungarian partners to ensure delivery truly represents Budapest and the country."
The U.K. communications agency has now been assigned to Budapest 2024 on the IOC consultants register for the 18-month Olympic bid campaign that concludes in Peru.
The Hungarian bid has only registered four consultants so far – M, Event Knowledge Services, PricewaterhouseCoopers and FŐMTERV Ltd.
It’s rivals in the 2024 race have significantly more. The Paris bid boasts 18 consultants, Rome has 13 on board and Los Angeles 10.
Rome is currently the only 2024 candidate city without an international PR partner after the bid decided against renewing a contract with U.K.-based Milltown Partners in January.
Los Angeles is using Jon Tibbs Associates, while Paris have VERO Communications.
