Amazing Peru For Lima 2019 Ceremony

(ATR) A sell-out crowd will fill the National Stadium in Lima Friday night for the opening ceremony of the 2019 Pan American Games.

"Amazing Peru" is the theme for the welcome party for the athletes of the Americas.

The star of the show is Puerto Rico singer Luis Fonsi who is known for his hit "Despacito".

Also on stage will be Vania Masías, Diego Flórez, Lucho Quequezana and more than 1700 Peruvian artists.

About 50 thousand spectators will watch the show and witness the parade of the more than 6700 athletes from 41 countries.

The show will feature dance, acrobatics and live musicians. Directed by Francisco Negrin, the ceremony will contrast modern-day Lima with ancient Peru.

The event is produced by Balich Worldwide, the Milan company which includes several Olympic ceremonies in its portfolio. Balich will also produce the August 11 closing ceremony.

Lima 2019 organizers says transport will get extra attention. With no private vehicles permitted, public transport will be the mode of transport for most of the crowd.

The Refugee Team for the Olympic Games was announced

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) unveiled this Thursday its largest refugee Olympic team to date for the Paris 2024 Games, with 36 athletes from 11 different countries. The athletes, some from Syria, Sudan, Iran, Afghanistan and Cuba, will compete in 12 sports.
