Rayo 0 - Athletic Bilbao 1:Rayo defeated 1-0 at home by Athletic Bilbao

Rayo on Sunday lost to Athletic Bilbao on a home defeat at Estadio de Vallecas. Rayo were looking for a victory after a 1-1 draw against Real Betis. Athletic Bilbao, on the other hand, lost 2-1 in the last match they played against R Madrid. As things stand, both teams are on 31 points and occupy 8th and 9th places respectively after 22 matches.

The first half of the game started well for Athletic Bilbao, thanks to a goal from Nicolas Serrano at the 30 minute mark, ending the first half 0-1. With both teams struggling to produce anything meaningful in the second half though, the game ended 1-0.

For Rayo, Sergi Guardiola, Randy Nteka, Unai Lopez and Bebe, came on for Falcao, Pathe Ciss, Oscar Trejo and Isi Palazon. Athletic Bilbao brought on Mikel Vesga, Nicholas Williams and Yuri Berchiche for Nicolas Serrano, Oier Zarraga and Raul Garcia.

There were bookings for Unai Lopez from Rayo, and Inaki Williams, Oier Zarraga, Dani Garcia, Unai Simon, Inigo Lekue and Nicholas Williams, for Athletic Bilbao.

Rayo will next travel to Celta Vigo, while Athletic Bilbao will face Espanyol at home.
