
Manchester City defeat Chelsea 1-0 on Saturday at the Etihad Stadium. Man City were keen to hang onto their position at the top of league and extend their winning run after winning their previous two games against Arsenal away and Brentford away, by 2-1 and 1-0 respectively. Chelsea, on the other hand, are struggling for form following a draw in their last match. At the moment, Man City and Chelsea currently occupy 1st and 2nd spots in the league, with 56 points and 43 points respectively after 22 matches.
After an un-eventful first half, Man City applied pressure in the second and were rewarded, thanks to Kevin De Bruyne finding the net, at 70 minutes, leaving the final score at 1-0.
For Man City, Ilkay Gundogan and Gabriel Jesus, came on for Kevin De Bruyne and Phil Foden. Chelsea brought on Timo Werner, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Mason Mount, to replace Hakim Ziyech, Christian Pulisic and Marcos Alonso.
The referee booked Marcos Alonso and Mateo Kovacic for Chelsea.
Man City will play their next game away against Southampton, while Chelsea will face Tottenham Hotspur at home.
