Curfew: Sutran suspended departure of interprovincial buses from Lima to other regions

The entity invoked citizens to comply with the measure ordered by the Executive Branch and to postpone their trips by land.

On April 5, a curfew has been decreed from 2:00 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. on the day, in Lima and Callao. As a result, multiple services have been suspended, including the inter-provincial travel service. The Superintendency of Land Transport of People, Cargo and Goods (Sutran) reported that bus departures from Lima to other regions were canceled.

Sutran informed interprovincial passenger transport companies that the care of persons was suspended by the Government's social immobilization measures. This was made official by Supreme Decree No. 034-2022 PCM , where the state of emergency is also being extended in Lima and Callao.

This curfew measure was announced by President Pedro Castillo in a Message to the Nation at 11:40 p.m., hours before it came into force. Thus, he specified that all people must stay in their homes, in the districts of Metropolitan Lima, the Department of Lima and in the Constitutional Province of Callao.

CRUZ DEL SUR COMMUNICATES

In a statement released on social networks, the interprovincial transport company Cruz Del Sur indicated that it would comply with the norm established by the Executive. He noted that:

“- We will not have interprovincial transport service.

- There will be no attention in agencies in Lima and Callao.

- Our call center service will not be available.

- Our provincial premises will normally attend to the reception and dispatch of parcels and parcels, as well as the sale of tickets.”

PEDRO CASTILLO AND MINISTERS WILL ATTEND

in President Pedro Castillo announced the curfew a week after saving himself from being removed by Congress, where opponents accuse him of “aimlessness” of his government and allowing corruption in his environment.

The measure will take effect this Tuesday as the Peruvian economy seeks to leave behind the damage caused by the covid-19 pandemic and to coincide with the 30th anniversary of former President Alberto Fujimori's self-coup d'état, on April 5, 1992.

ANÍBAL TORRES DOES NOT RULE OUT WHAT MEASURE APPLIES TO THE WHOLE COUNTRY

The president of the Council of Ministers, Aníbal Torres, declared that the measure could be extended to the rest of the country, but this depends on what happens in the next few hours.

“If this situation persists, it can be extended to the rest of the country, but I think not, the population will understand and the population themselves will not accept vandalism,” he told TV Peru this morning.

“We have to work in order, with serenity and tranquility, the Government is there to guarantee all fundamental rights, rights that no one can attack,” he also said, explaining that the measure seeks to protect the country's security.

On the other hand, the premier said that the measures imposed by the Government to reduce or contain the price of fuels will be enforced. It should be recalled that the Executive decided to exonerate the payment of the Selective Consumption Tax (ISC) on fuels by 90%.

“These measures dictated regarding the price of fuels are going to be fulfilled yes or yes. Yesterday we arranged for Osinergmin to control the faucets, an effective control. We are in a crisis situation, so we ask all taps in the country to adapt to these measures,” he said.
