On Sunday, March 27, the new season of ibVecinos premiered, the hit television series that has won over the public with its comedy. On this occasion, the joy of launching new episodes was overshadowed by the irreparable absence of Octavio Ocaña, the actor who since childhood played Benito Rivers and who unfortunately died 5 months ago after being involved in a police chase.
After the broadcast of the first episode of the twelfth season, social networks were flooded with messages in memory of the beloved Tabasqueño and, among the reactions, they highlighted the moving words that Bertha and Ana Leticia Pérez Ocaña shared in an interview with De primermano.
The sisters of the late actor told that it was very difficult for their whole family to watch the show and listen to the heartfelt words expressed by each of the characters as part of the tribute. They also took advantage of the space to thank the entire production for the gesture they had to give a very special closure to the story of Benito Rivers.
“Quite emotional, quite touching. Now that I was seeing him again, tears begin to fill his eyes a little. At the time I was telling my family: 'I don't know if I can see him again' because it is something that definitely marked the story of the great Benito and the truth is that we are very happy and very grateful with the production,” Bertha commented.
Ana Leticia also shared her feelings about it. He confessed that he was moved to tears after watching the episode, but in a certain way there was also a feeling of empathy due to the messages of solidarity that circulated on networks, in fact, he commented that thanks to this, everyone felt supported.
“Every time I see the scene I obviously cry a lot. As my sister says, it is difficult to see him and not cry every time you see him [...] as a family we feel very proud of Octavio, of what he left in the hearts of each person, grateful and dismayed [...] It's so nice to know that we're not alone or been alone for a single second,” he said.
Regarding the impression their parents took, the Ocaña sisters agreed that it was quite painful for them to see the tribute and dismiss the character their son played since he was a child. They explained that from the moment they learned of Octavio's death they have tried to get ahead, but contrary to the first months, they now prefer to stay out of the situation away from television.
“In this case they saw the chapter of Neighbors, it hit them like no one else, definitely them if it hit them the most. Imagine, his parents who since he was a child took him to record, took him to the forums, at all times there. My dad, who was the one who built his career, an impeccable career, full of light for a child, because he was always a child,” said Bertha Ocaña.
Finally, on behalf of their family they expressed that they are still firm in clarifying the facts where unfortunately their brother lost his life by a shot in the head. It should be recalled that Octavio Ocaña was involved in a police chase while driving a black van in the company of two people.
“Little by little justice is being achieved. So far the fact that they have already separated from their posts, they have even linked these two people who were in charge of disseminating these images to the trial [...] they don't know how happy this news makes me because we were quite affected at the time,” added Bertha.
