André Carrillo suffered a serious injury to his left leg in Peru vs Uruguay and missed the Peruvian national team's most important match in South American Qualifiers heading to Qatar 2022. The striker was not alone in three of the 17 matches played by the 'white-roja' so far and two of them were defeats on the atypical triple date.
In October 2021, those led by Ricardo Gareca played the second triple date of the current Conmebol qualifying tournament. This was due to the suspended dates that occurred due to the COVID-19 pandemic that hit everyone with massive infections. Chile, Bolivia and Argentina were the rivals in seven days and the 'bicolor' didn't do so well, except without the 'Culebra', the most unbalanced footballer.
It all started well with the 2-0 win against 'La Roja' in Lima, where the 'Tigre' used Christian Cueva and Edison Flores for the bands, changing constantly during the match. But against the 'altiplanicos' and the 'albiceleste' we lost by the same result, 1-0, closing those days in penultimate place with 11 points and little hope of qualifying for the world championship.
The 30-year-old has played 14 of the 17 matches played by the Peruvian national team in Qualifiers so far, being one of the most important. In all of them he started and in nine he spent the 90 minutes on the court. In addition, he contributed with three goals and one assist.
Now, the Peruvian team will face its fourth match without André Carrillo, who suffered a tear from the previous crusader and will be off the courts for several weeks and will miss the match against Paraguay in Lima this Tuesday, March 29 from 06:30pm (Peruvian time), where the 'bicolor' depends on itself to take the place and play the repechage to Qatar 2022.
THE PLAYERS WHO WILL NOT BE IN PERU VS PARAGUAY
Miguel Almirón, Gustavo Gomez, Matías Villasanti and Blas Riveros are the players of the 'albirroja' who will miss the match against the 'blanquirroja' by suspension, within the framework of the last date of the South American Qualifiers. The first three players received a yellow card in the match against Ecuador, where they won 3-1, while the last one was expelled. For his part, Robert Morales was injured and was also ruled out. Guillermo Barros Schelotto will have to rethink several things to face the 'bicolor', but he arrives confidently after the victory. André Carrillo will be another of those who miss the match due to injury.
