NBC Sports Group Presents Coverage of the 2016 FINA Diving World Cup from Rio this Week

Coverage Begins Tomorrow with Women’s Synchronized Platform at 6:30 p.m. ET on NBCSN

NBC Sports Group presents coverage of the 2016 FINA Diving World Cup this week from the Maria Lenk Aquatic Centre in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the venue proposed for the 2016 Rio Olympic Games. NBCSN’s coverage begins tomorrow, Friday, Feb. 19, at 6:30 p.m. ET with women’s synchronized platform, immediately followed by the men’s synchronized springboard at 7:30 p.m. ET, and culminates with live coverage of the men’s platform at 11 a.m. ET on Wednesday, Feb. 24.

Universal HD and NBC Sports Live Extra - NBC Sports Group’s live streaming product for desktops, mobile devices, tablets, and connected TVs - will also present coverage of the event throughout the week (full schedule below).

Highlighting the competition for the U.S. team are 2012 Olympic platform gold medalist David Boudia (men’s synchronized platform), and 2012 Olympic medalists Kristian Ipsen (men’s springboard and synchronized springboard) and Abby Johnston (women’s springboard and synchronized springboard). Rising stars Steele Johnson (men’s platform and synchronized platform) and Amy Cozad (women’s synchronized platform), who placed sixth in the individual platform event at the 2015 World Championships, will also compete for the U.S.

2012 Olympic platform silver medalist Qiu Bo of China, Great Britain’s Tom Daley, the 2012 Olympic bronze medalist in the men’s platform, and 2015 World springboard champion He Chao of China lead the international contenders.

Athletes competing can qualify for the Rio Games, with 88 spots available across eight events.

Play-by-play will be handled over the six-day competition by Steve Schlanger and Ted Robinson on a rotating basis, joined by analyst and Olympic diving bronze medalist Cynthia Potter.
