Travel Update for Tuesday
Travel chaos failed to materialize on Monday, but as Olympic events shift around London, travelers are still expected to be wary of possible congestion.
Transport for London has warned commuters not to get complacent about the extra numbers on the public transport network. Beach volleyball continues at Horse Guards Parade, so Embankment and Charing Cross stations will be expected to be busy.
Olympic football also returns to Wembley with high numbers likely to watch Team GB women’s team take on Brazil. TfL sent out an email to Londoners warning of the effect this could have on the rest of the underground.
"The Jubilee and Metropolitan lines will be extremely busy between central London and Wembley from 17:00 - 19:30. Baker Street, King’s Cross, St. Pancras and Green Park stations are expected to be very busy."
The Olympic Road Network also stays in place serving venues in almost every corner of the city. Many city commuters, however, turned up early for work on Monday in order to avoid potential traffic.
"Isles of Wonder" Topping Charts
The soundtrack to Danny Boyle’s opening ceremony of London 2012 is becoming a hit around the globe.
The two-disc collection, ‘Isles of Wonder’, was made available for download at midnight on July 28 and has gone on to top the iTunes Album store charts in UK, Belgium, France, Norway and Spain.
The album is also in the top 10 in 19 of the 22 countries that iTunes tracks. A physical edition of the album, which features Paul McCartney and the London Symphony Orchestra, will be released in August.

Despite the issue of empty seats, Tuesday’s British newspapers concentrate on the momentous occasion of Britain’s first medal in men’s gymnastics in 100 years.
The Times leads with the headline ‘The History Boys’ celebrating the team bronze medal from the British foursome. The Daily Telegraph must be quite proud with their pun headline of ‘Gymnasts on a roll’.
The Daily Express also lauds the hosts’ achievement with ‘OUR BRILLIANT GYMNASTS GET BRONZE…BUT IT SHOULD BE SILVER’ referencing the fact that although originally finishing in 2nd, an appeal from Japan saw them move up and GB slip down to 3rd.
