Gary Neville, Manchester United idol and legend of the England national team, referred to the Colombian's signing with Liverpool and highlighted his enormous potential. The former player on the podcast he published on Sky Sports, praised the Colombian and stated that he was impressed by the Colombian since the Carabao Cup final against Chelsea.

“The Carabao Cup final was the first time I saw the boy live. He is playing on the left side and I see it from the perspective of a right back, so I think I have a very good eye on what I would have liked and what I would not have liked. And I thought, 'Oh, my God. Which player is' (...) His tenacity, his skill, his pace, his struggle, his spirit, everything,” said Gary Neville in Sky Sports.

A few weeks before the agreement between the Colombian and Liverpool was closed, a protagonist came on the scene and changed everything, Antonio Conte's Tottenham. The Spurs wanted to get the signing of the Colombian footballer, which forced the managers of the 'Reds' to move to conclude the agreement with the Porto player at the time.
