It's official! The fourth season of You began filming on March 22, as confirmed Netflix from their social networks. Actor Penn Badgley will return to his role as Joe Goldberg in the continuation of the psychological thriller series that has become one of the most popular on the platform. Even without a release date, the announcement has excited the most fans of this fiction based on the books of Caroline Kepnes.
The story follows “an aspiring writer who crosses paths with a brilliant bookseller willing to do anything to get close to her. Joe starts by searching for intimate information through the internet and social media, but soon everything that stands between him and his target is an obstacle that he must remove, even if it's people. What had started as a strange crush, at times charming, is quietly becoming an obsession”.
In the third season of You, we saw that Joe (Badgley) and Love (Victoria Pedretti) have formalized their love relationship with marriage and a baby. Both began a new life in the Madre Linda neighborhood of Northern California, a quiet place that is also inhabited by privileged tech entrepreneurs, cocky mom bloggers, and famous Instagram biohackers. That is, a majority white population.
Despite the fact that the protagonist is really involved with this new stage as husband and father, he cannot help but be attracted to the neighbor next door and questions whether his happiness is really next to Love, who is characterized by his lethal impulsivity. Could the woman you've been looking for all this time be your next door neighbor?
It should be noted that, this last installment marked a departure from the original plot of the literary saga unlike the two previous ones and probably the new episodes will also follow a different course than the pages that Kepnes wrote. Youb (2014), Hidden Bodiesb (2016), Providence (2018) and You Love Me (2021) are all the author's publications related to this universe.
At the moment, it is unknown what this continuation will be about, but there is speculation that some characters could return even if they are dead. In addition, it was recently confirmed that Lukas Gage (The White Lotus) would join the cast as Adam, the son of a wealthy businessman who ends up getting involved in Joe's life.
When will season four arrive on Netflix?
You returned to screens in October last year and the fourth season could also be released at the end of 2022. To date, Netflix has not confirmed when exactly the next chapters would be seen, but it may be between this year and the beginning of the next year.
After debuting on the streaming service in 2018, the television adaptation of the novels became a phenomenon for the audience. The first batch of episodes featured performances by Penn Badgley, Elizabeth Lail, Luca Padovan, Zach Cherry and Shay Mitchell, while the following episodes included new faces such as Victoria Pedretti, James Scully, Jenna Ortega and Carmela Zumbado.
