This Sunday, some of those called by Reinaldo Rueda have arrived at the rally prior to the double date of the South American Qualifiers to Qatar 2022, days in which the Colombian national team will face Bolivia and Venezuela on March 25 and 30, respectively.
Since yesterday, Sunday, March 20, in the morning Rueda had his first training session with the first four players who reached the concentration. Álvaro Montero, from Millonarios, Miguel Ángel Borja, from Junior, Harold Preciado, from Cali and Gustavo Cuellar, from Al-Hilal, who carried out tactical and defining work.
Now, this Monday, from the Colombian Football Federation it was reported that Wilmar Barrios joined the 'tricolor' in the evening hours. The wheel arrived from Russia after playing 88′ minutes in Zenit's 3-0 victory against Arsenal Tula.
So far, the national team is waiting for the arrival of seven more players: David Ospina, Stefan Medina, Yairo Moreno, Johan Mojica, Jefferson Lerma, Luis Suarez and James Rodriguez. On the other hand, this Monday afternoon they will have their second practice and the team is expected to be complete.
On the other hand, the last two matches, which will be played in less than 15 days, Colombia will host Bolivia in Barranquilla on March 25, at 6:30pm local time, and will close with Venezuela in San Cristobal on the 30th of the same month, at 7:30pm Colombian time.
Now, it should be noted that the national team is ranked number 7 in the standings of the South American Qualifiers for Qatar 2022 with 17 points and three goals against. Now, in this position and with these units, mathematically, Colombia has one foot in and one foot out, since it has a chance to go to the World Cup, but it depends on the results of Uruguay and Peru.
Assuming that the national team scores all three points in these two matches, it needs Peru to draw or lose to Uruguay in Montevideo and Paraguay in Lima. That is to aspire to a repechage that will be played in June. And, if the 'tricolor' is in the fifth box, the World Cup draw will be held until next April 1. But it must be clear that only a miracle will have Reinaldo Rueda's team at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
