(ATR) The PyeongChang 2018 Organizing Committee (POCOG) will add three new honorary ambassadors this Saturday.

Three Korean Olympic medalists will be added to the ten-member team of honorary ambassadors made up mainly of Korean athletes and entertainment figures. Speed skaters Seung-hoon Lee, Seung-hi Park and Tae-bum Mo will be announced as honorary ambassadors at the 1,000 days to go celebration at Seoul’s Olympic Park.

Seung-hoon Lee holds two Olympic medals from the Vancouver 2010 Games, taking gold in the 10,000m race and silver in the 5,000m race.

Joining him is three-time medalist Seung-hi Park, the first woman in Korean history to win Olympic medals in all disciplines of short track skating with two gold medals and one bronze. Park has now switched to speed skating and is preparing for the 2018 PyeongChang Games.

The last member of the trio of appointments is speed skater Tae-bum Mo. Mo brought home Korea’s first Olympic gold medalin the 500m speed skating event at Vancouver in 2010.

Event organizers say adding the Korean champions will "boost national pride" for the upcoming Winter Games.

The speed skating trio will join the other ten ambassadors – including American alpine skier Lindsey Vonn named to the ambassador team last week – at the Olympic Park this Saturday for the 1,000 days to go until the PyeongChang Winter Games celebration.

Each of the newly appointed honorary ambassadors will be competing at the 2018 Games in PyeongChang.
