ATRadio: Drug Cheats Can't Hide Behind Corona

(ATR) WADA President Witold Banka says the pandemic won’t halt the fight against doping.

"If someone is thinking that Covid-19 is the space for cheating, this is the moment to cheat us, I would like to warn them that we will catch you as soon as possible together with Anti Doping organizations," Banka tells Around the Rings in an ATRadio podcast.

Banka, former minister for sport in Poland was elected president of WADA in November.

Iniciativas Olimpicas Contra la Pandemia

(ATR) La futbolista Deyaris Balbuena, que actúa en Ecuador, fue la última deportista dominicana en regresar a su país en medio de la crisis sanitaria internacional por el coronavirus.

Balbuena de inmediato fue ingresada al Albergue Olímpico donde cumplirá una cuarentena para prevenir contagio.

Ella llevaba varios días en Quito, la capital de un país gravemente afectado por la Covid-19.

Luis Mejía Oviedo siguió hasta último minuto el proceso de la repatriación de la atleta.

Aunque como presidente de la Organización Deportiva Centroamericana y del Caribe, Mejia Oviedo monitorea a diario la problemática en torno a los Juegos Centroamericanos y del Caribe en Panamá en 2022, hoy su batalla prioritaria es la preservación de la salud de los atletas dominicanos y de la región ante la amenaza del nuevo y letal virus.

La iniciativa del Comité Olímpico Dominicano (COD) de establecer el Albergue Olímpico como centro de aislamiento de los deportistas ha sido elogiada dentro y fuera de esa nación caribeña..

Decenas de deportistas que han regresado a República Dominicana han sido ingresados al Albergue Olímpico, donde hay una Unidad Médica que da seguimiento a su evolución de salud durante el cumplimiento de su cuarentena.
