Un sismo de magnitud 7 se registró este viernes al sur de Point MacKenzie, en Alaska, según reportó el Servicio Geológico de Estados Unidos (USGS, por su sigla en inglés).
El movimiento se dio a una profundidad de 43 kilómetros, con epicentro a 11,4 kilómetros de Anchorage, precisó, donde también se sintieron los movimientos.

Aunque el Servicio Nacional de Meteorología dijo inicialmente que no había peligro de tsunami, unos minutos más tarde la agencia publicó en Twitter que había una advertencia para Cook Inlet.
Sin embargo, horas después el alerta de tsunami fue cancelado.

Hasta el momento no se han reportado víctimas aunque sí algunos daños en las carreteras y comercios por el sismo, ocurrido a las 17:29 GMT , según los primeros datos publicados por la agencia geológica estadounidense.

Minutos más tarde, el mandatario también publicó un mensaje en su cuenta de Twitter que dirigió al "gran pueblo de Alaska", en el que pidió que cumplan con las indicaciones de los profesionales a cargo de la emergencia.

"El sismo fue lo suficientemente fuerte como para tirar objetos de las estanterías y hacer temblar hogares en toda la región", señaló el Anchorage Daily News, el principal periódico de Alaska.
