Just a couple of weeks ago, the American financial magazine Forbes released its annual ranking of the wealthiest people in the world. However, it also showed the wealth that people have in each country.

In the case of Mexico, Forbes came up with a ranking showing the fortune of people who had at least a fortune equivalent to USD 500 million or more. This list was led by telecommunications magnate Carlos Slim Helú, who according to Forbes, managed to increase his fortune by 45. 3% compared to the 2021 listing. A year ago, Forbes calculated that Slim Helu had a fortune of USD 55,930 million, however, in 2022, his fortune was estimated to be USD 81,240 million, which means an increase of USD 25,310 billion.

This led to Slim ranking 13th among the richest people in the world, that is, he climbed three places, since in 2021 he was in 16th position. In addition, he was crowned as the wealthiest person in all of Latin America.

The second wealthiest person in Mexico, according to Forbes, is Germán Larrea Mota Velasco, who is estimated to currently have a fortune of USD 30,850 millions, which means that it increased its wealth by 13.8%. And it is that in 2021, Larrea's fortune was USD 27,100 million, that is, he managed to increase it by USD 3.75 billion.

In the case of the country's wealthiest women entrepreneurs, María Asunción Aramburuzabala turned out to be the richest woman in Mexico, with a fortune of USD 6,180 million, which means that it increased, compared to 2021, by 9.8%. A year ago, the businesswoman had USD 5,630 million.

Thanks to this, Aramburuzabala Larregui was placed fifth among the wealthiest people in the country. In sixth place was another woman, who would be the second wealthiest in the country. This is Eva Gonda de Rivera, who has a fortune of USD 5.7 billion. This means that it did not have any variation compared to 2021, when it had the same amount.

Eva Gonda was the richest woman in Mexico until 2019, according to Forbes, when she was estimated to have a fortune of USD 6.7 billion. It was since 2013 that he took that position.

In 2018, Gonda de Rivera's fortune was estimated to be even greater, as Forbes credited him with an equity of USD 7 billion. She heads one of the richest families of businessmen in Mexico, who appeared on Forbes since 1987, the Garza Sada Family.

Eva Gonda is the widow of renowned businessman Eugenio Garza Lagüera, who died in 2008. After his death, his wife and four daughters inherited 50% of the shares of Coca-Cola FEMSA, the conglomerate that became the largest public bottler of this American beverage brand.

The heiresses of Garza Lagüera also inherited the Oxxo convenience store chain, which revolutionized retail trade, as well as 20% of the shares of the Dutch company Heineken.

In addition to this, they have a thousand pharmacies in Mexico, and another thousand distributed between Chile and Colombia.
