One of the constant points made to the candidate of the Historical Pact Gustavo Petro is the alleged risk of a government full of expropriations as is the case in Venezuela, this is not something new, the accusation has been said in almost every aspiration to the Casa de Nariño that Petro has had.

The Historic Pact candidate has had to come out numerous times to deny that in an eventual government he would take companies away from the private sector in exchange for compensation, an example of this was in 2018 when in the midst of the presidential race against the current president Duque, he signed Antanas Mockus and a sector of the party Green a document where he assured that he would not expropriate.

Now, together with his vice-presidential formula Francia Márquez, the leader of the Historical Pact will sign an agreement in which he pledges not to expropriate in the event that they win the presidential elections of May 29 in the first or second round.

This was stated by the radio station La W, who indicated that the commitment should be signed before noon with some members of the collective at the Notary 17 in Bogotá, located in the 10 #16 -22 South race.

Several members of the Covenant have questioned the argument they point to more as slander about 'expropriation in the Petro' mandate, as Senator Benedetti demonstrated in previous days: “With the Chinese tale of expropriation some Colombians are moving away from the future they owe them. No one is going to expropriate anyone! Stop bullshitting.”

In other news of the Historic Pact candidate Gustavo Petro, yesterday he said through a triune the wish that Germán Navas Talero, representative of the House for Bogotá, would agree to become its new campaign chief legal officer.

As explained by the presidential candidate of the Historical Pact, his knowledge in different branches of law would help him to ensure a “clean” campaign. “His legal wisdom and his honesty demonstrated throughout his career is a guarantee in the search for a clean election campaign,” he added.

Navas Talero is a lawyer from the Universidad La Gran Colombia and has a specialization in Criminal and Penitentiary Sciences from the Universidad Nacional. In the course of his public career, he has been a permanent judge of criminal investigation and commissioner of the judicial police, in addition to writing a large number of legal works. Likewise, he worked in the Ministry of Justice between 1961 and 1967, and since 1998 he has been a member of the House of Representatives for Bogotá.

In the 2014 legislative elections, the Democratic Pole congressman won the highest individual vote in the House with a total of 45,386 votes.

Likewise, it has had several appearances on radio and television. Some Colombians remember him for his direction of the program “Consultorio Jurídico”, also having spaces on different radio stations, such as Radio Súper, Todelar, Colmundo Radio, among others.

“He managed the first university Law Office in the country, and years later — thanks to his experience and vocation — he was appointed director of the Popular Law Service Foundation, which, since its inception, has been dedicated to providing legal care to people with limited economic resources,” published the official portal of the House of Representatives.

Petro's invitation comes just a few days after the stir generated by the visit of his brother, Juan Fernando, to La Picota prison in Bogotá, on April 8. The family member of the presidential candidate met with Iván Moreno, former mayor of Bucaramanga and former congressman convicted of the 'Carousel of Contracting' case.
