Alain Giresse is a former French World Cup player who shone with his own light alongside Michael Platini in the 1980s, in that midfield that mocked any rival that crossed his front.

Despite being 1.63 meters tall, Alain Giresse didn't wrinkle with anyone. With his speed and good punch, he broke it at that time. He used the 12th and with his beloved nation he played two World Cups. The first was Spain 1982, where it ranked fourth. Two years later he would win the European Championship with France and placed his national team at the top of the continent.

As a player, his last World Cup he played was Mexico 1986, where he finished third with the French national team.

By the way, Group D of the Qatar 2022 World Cup is made up of France, Denmark, Tunisia and the winner of the repechage that will come out between the Peruvian National Team and the representative of Asia (Australia or the United Arab Emirates).

Infobae contacted Alain Giresse exclusively to give his opinion on this Group D of the Qatar 2022 World Cup and analyze the present of France under Professor Didier Deschamps

“The group for France, is quite affordable for qualification. I hope that Peru will qualify for the World Cup and face France and Denmark as in 2018. I really want it,” Alain Giresse, former French player, told Infobae exclusively.

Giresse, in turn, was asked about the timing of his selection and this is what he said: “In 2018, France was one of the other's favorites. Today, they are world champions, with players who have progressed, have become better, like Mpappé, Benzema recovered so we can consider that France is superior in 2022. On the other hand, there will no longer be the surprise effect that there was in 2018,” said Alain Giresse.

DT from France also spoke about Peru

The coach of the French team, Didier Deschamps, referred to Ricardo Gareca's team as a future rival.

“Logic would suggest that it is Peru through its FIFA ranking,” he said recently in an interview with L'Equipe. He highlighted the potential of the Peruvian squad. “It's a typical South American team and we know the quality they treasure. Peru is not only aggressiveness, but also has great players,” he added.

“We will wait, because history also says that not always the best placed is the one who entered the World Cup,” Deschamps concluded.
