Diego Peretti stars in Echoes of a Crime, a film that hit Argentine screens on January 27 and is now available to watch on HBO Max. The story follows a writer who secludes himself in a remote house in a forest to begin writing his new novel, but his peace is interrupted by a strange visit. “On vacation in an isolated house in the world, a successful writer of thrillers and his family live a nightmarish night after a woman who is fleeing from her murderous husband knocks on their door,” says the official synopsis on the streaming service.
Julián Lemar, a best-selling author, is completely burdened by releasing a new book that surpasses his latest literary success and finds the surest solution to connect with inspiration: a family trip to a distant forest. During their first night's stay, a storm occurs and the light goes out of the place. At that moment, an unknown woman appears to them, Ana, who asks for help and claims to be pursued by her husband. According to what counts, he killed his son and now seeks to take her life too.
The novelist and his family try to help her, however, this will lead them to jeopardize their own integrity when the worst night of their lives breaks out. Between threats and deception, Julián must put his loved ones to safety and question whether everything that has happened in the last few hours is truly credible. Who is lying and why? The answer to this question will astonish this man.
The filmmaker Cristian Bernard directs this thriller and thriller proposal written by Gabriel Korenfeld. The main cast consisted of Diego Peretti (The Simulators), Julieta Cardinali, Carla Quevedo, Diego Cremonesi and Carola Reyna. The production was carried out under the label of Particular Crowd and Tieless Media and was distributed through Warner Bros. Pictures (Spanish). Thanks to the partnership with the film company, the title can now be viewed digitally.
The film was shot in Argentina and had a remarkable performance at the local box office in terms of the current numbers of releases since the COVID-19 pandemic. It has been described as the most watched Argentinian film in the pandemic context, as more than 67,000 people came to see it in the first 13 days of its release.
Echoes of a crime can be seen on HBO Max since March 18.
