Despite the fact that the federal government highlighted the decrease in almost all crimes recorded in the entity, Veracruz remains among the ten states with the highest number of intentional homicides. During the press conference on Friday, February 18, General Luis Cresencio Sandoval, head of SEMAR, presented the data.
The event was attended by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and Governor Cuitláhuac García Jiménez. The latter was the one who assured that his government has worked to maintain security and lower crime rates.
According to data from the Executive Secretariat of the National Public Security System, from December 2018 to March 2022, the period in which the Morenista was in charge, Veracruz remains in ninth place nationally as the entity with the most cases of intentional homicide with a total of 4007.
“We are making progress in building a peace that will prevail forever. Not easy after the history of corruption in past government spheres. Hopelessness and social breakdown are no longer spreading because now it is being faced with well-being,” said Cuitlahuác.
