(ATR) The two ministers involved with Londonâ??s Olympic bid have won their seats in Thursdayâ??s election that saw Tony Blair and Labour to an unprecedented third consecutive term. Blair has made the Olympics part of the Labour platform.
Secretary of Culture Tessa Jowell and sports minister Richard Caborn are both expected to keep their positions with oversight for the London bid as Blair forms a new government.
Jowell, 57, won her seat in the Dulwich and West Norwood in Londonâ??s southeast. Caborn, 64, serves from Sheffield in Yorkshire.
London bid officials tell Around the Rings that regardless of the outcome of the national election, they expected no impact on the bid. While the Labour Party government has led the bid so far, the Tory opposition had also pledged its support to winning the Games for London.
