On the afternoon of this Wednesday, April 20, local authorities located the dismembered body of a woman inside two suitcases in Cancun's Region 99, where a drug message was also located aimed at a criminal group of the entity.
The discovery was made on 8th and 58th streets in the area, as residents of the area alerted municipal police about the presence of a pink suitcase and a black suitcase on the public road, and on one of them, a threat against identified subjects such as Jordan, Hasil and Panther could be read.
Municipal and state police cordoned off the area so that experts from the Attorney General's Office of the State of Quintana Roo (FGE) could carry out the proceedings corresponding to the collection of the body and evidence on the spot.
The site where the body was abandoned is located just two blocks from the Benito Juárez Social Reintegration Center, where prisoners from the state of Quintana Roo are held; as well as one block from the Tianguis de la colonia.
FGE personnel found various garments on the spot that could belong to a woman, so it was reported that the remains contained in the suitcases were of a female person, which would be confirmed.
Hours later, the body of a man was found in the sports unit of the Villas de Otoch Paraíso subdivision, where he was shot down by armed men, as this was announced by the local authorities.
According to information provided to local media by witnesses who witnessed the events, gunmen arrived at the scene aboard a motorcycle, from which they descended to shoot at the man.
The victim received several bullet wounds to the body and head, which would have resulted in his death at the scene; personnel from the local prosecutor's office found several bullet casings, which were presented to the Public Prosecutor's Office that will take the case.
No one was arrested for the events, but local and federal police implemented a security device in the area to try to find those responsible for the execution.
On March 25, the location of human remains in a clandestine grave of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) in the Paraiso Maya subdivision in Cancun, where the presence of eight human bones was reported.
For this fact, eleven suspected hit men were arrested, whom agents of the local prosecutor's office managed to locate in superblock 107 of the Benito Juárez municipality, which would lead to the progress of investigations into 13 recent murders in Cancun, including that of businessman Federico Luna Cervantes.
On March 19, FGE agents found five bodies next to a dirt road in the Paraíso Maya subdivision, whose further investigations led to the location of three abducted persons in a home near the place.
The rescued victims gave information to the agents of the Public Prosecutor's Office that led to the location of the clandestine grave, in which the bodies of the businessman and member of Coparmex were located, as well as his escort, who had previously been abducted.
Federico Luna Cervantes was kidnapped on December 14, 2021 by the members of the CJNG arrested last March; the 10 men and one woman were transferred to the entity's prisons to be made available to the authorities.
