This Wednesday, April 20, federal authorities secured a property containing more than 554 kilograms of marijuana in Jalisco due to the fact that a backpack containing one kilo of the narcotic drug was located outside the site, after which they detected a strong smell of the drug, resulting in the location of the cargo.
Members of the Guardia Nacional (GN) who carried out patrolling tours on Miguel Blanco Street, in the La Villa neighborhood in the municipality of Acatic, Jalisco, noticed the presence of a suspicious backpack outside a home, which they decided to review in accordance with the protocols of action for this type of cases.
After checking the backpack, the GN agents discovered that it contained 101 packages containing doses of marijuana, which together weighed about one kilo, so they carried out survey work on the spot and later noticed a strong smell of narcotic drugs coming from the home in front of which the package.
The uniformed men notified the Federal Public Ministry of the Attorney General's Office (FGR) in Jalisco, which requested a search warrant for the property from a local supervisory judge, thus leading to the review of the property by federal agents.
On site, personnel from the Federal Ministerial Police (PFM) and the National Guard found “various wrappers, containers, bags, bags, sacks and rolls of synthetic material with more than 554 kilos 645 grams of cannabis sativa (marijuana) and two motorcycles.”
What was found in the property was insured by the agents and placed at the disposal of the MP, “who will continue with the corresponding investigation folder, for crimes against health against whom or those who are responsible”, so “this assurance avoids the preparation, distribution and marketing of more than 250 thousand doses of this narcotic drug”.
A day before these facts were announced, on April 19, the FGR reported on the securing of 436 kilograms of marijuana in a home located in the municipality of La Cruz Elota in Sinaloa.
In the building “agents of the Federal Ministerial Police (PFM), headed by the agent of the Federal Public Ministry (MPF) in coordination with staff of the Institution's Expert Services, completed the Investigation. At the site, they secured three buildings, 266 plants and 439 kilos, four grams of marijuana, two motorcycles, lamps, humidifiers and extractor,” the Prosecutor's Office reported in a statement.
The federal authorities did not report detainees in either case, but reported that appropriate investigations were initiated against those responsible for crimes against health in their form of drug trafficking.
In early April, the FGR received an anonymous complaint about the presence of packages containing marijuana plants and gummies at a parcel company, where they had been deposited for shipment to different parts of the country and the United States.
This type of drug trafficking had previously been detected, since in November 2021, federal authorities investigated the shipment of one kilo 473 grams of marijuana, four cartridges for electronic cigarettes with liquid THC and two kilograms of crystal, which were inside a stuffed animal packed for his shipping.
