Debanhi Escobar's dad hopes to talk to the young women who were with her: “You can't leave a friend in the middle of the street”

Debanhi's father, Mario Escobar, revealed details about the conversations he had with his daughter's friends before she disappeared. She said she wants to talk to them again even though they abandoned her in the middle of the street

Mario Escobar, Debanhi's father, expressed his desire to speak with Ivonne and Sarahí, friends of his daughter, since so far he only knows his version of events through his statements to the Attorney General's Office of the State of Nuevo Leon (FGE).

He stated this during an interview with Mafian TV, in which he also spoke about the reasons for the attacks on young women, about which he said: “You can't leave a friend in the middle of the street.”

When asked about how they explained that Debanhi got out of the vehicle he was riding on the road to Ladero, Mario replied: “No, they haven't explained it to me. They gave the statement to the Prosecutor's Office in the folder, we haven't seen them. We are waiting to talk to the girls.”

He explained that, although public opinion is against his daughter's friends, both he and his wife want to talk to them personally. He explained that he is hopeful that the bond of trust between his daughter's mother and Sarahí and Ivonne will be enough for them to reveal more details that are useful in the investigation.

During the telephone link, Mario said that he was in contact with them on the night of the party, at which point they informed him that Debanhi had gotten out of the car she was in alone and said: “As far as we know they left in another car. Why, we don't know, that's what we want to find out from the start.”

He explained that the last direct interaction he and his wife had with them was at approximately 8 am on April 11, when they communicated through text messages to ask if their friend was already with them. That's when the concern grew when they confirmed that their daughter was not accompanied and they decided to start their search at Locatel, where they were informed that they had no record of anyone with the characteristics they reported.

He reiterated that he wants to talk to the friends who accompanied Debanhi at the party and added that he also wishes to speak to Juan David “N”, ibDidi driver who was arrested by the Prosecutor's Office and gave his statement on the case, since he has not had direct contact with him so far. He plans to request a hearing to hear his side of the story and detect possible contradictions in his statement.

The authorities keep several lines of investigation open, in which the statements of the friends of the missing girl are important. It is worth mentioning that relatives of the 18-year-old girl reported inconsistencies in the testimonies due to the fact that as the days went by they have changed their description of what happened between April 9 and 10.

The trail currently being followed by the FGE is that of the missing woman's entry into a freight forwarding company where she allegedly asked for help after getting out of the car in which she was traveling. On the other hand, Samuel García, governor of Nuevo León, said that Debanhi's father speaks almost every day, during a press conference in which he presented the new head of the Women's Secretariat after Alicia Leal resigned in the midst of the crisis over disappearances in the state.
