Recently, Empresas Públicas de Medellín (EPM) announced a new road closure, which will begin next Tuesday, April 19. This is the intervention that will take place in race 65 between 101 and 104 streets in the capital of Antioquia.
According to the information provided by EPM, this new closure, which will last at least eight months, is carried out due to the aqueduct works that will be carried out in that area of the city.
“From April 19 to December 31, 2022, there will be the continuous partial closure of race 65 between 101st and 104th streets,” the company reported. Likewise, he clarified that for these tasks the western lane of the western road will be occupied north - south 24 hours a day.
EPM clarified that this closure due to aqueduct works will not generate diversions. On the other hand, the cycle route lane in that sector will be enabled for vehicular traffic located on the eastern road of the western lane of race 65 between 101st and 104th streets.
Both the company and the local authorities invited citizens to plan their activities in advance, to be aware of changes in the route and the signage provided on the section where the works will be carried out to avoid accidents.
On the sewerage works that will be carried out in Medellín
Empresas Publicas de Medellín explained that the works that will be carried out in the 65th race between 101st and 104th streets are the construction of the Machado Volador pipeline, which will come into operation in 2023 and will provide greater capacity for drinking water supply from the Manantiales plant to the center and south of the Aburrá Valley.
Closure on the South Highway in Medellín due to sewerage works
It should be remembered that until next Monday, April 18, a section of the Southern highway in Medellín will be closed due to repair works on the sewage system.
The total closure of the eastern highway of the South Highway, near the junction of Carrera 63 with 42C Street and north/south, is carried out because one of the sewage networks in the La Macarena sector was subjected to fires that fractured the pipeline, according to EPM.
He also pointed out that the works involve an excavation of five meters in length that will be located in the central lane on the left side of the South Highway, which is why those who must use the eastern road, which is adjacent to the Medellín River, in a north-south direction, are invited to take the causeway as an alternate route to border the La Macarena Entertainment Center and enter, in this way, the depressed Parques del Río.
