This Wednesday, April 6, the Historical Pact announced that lawyer Alfonso Prada is the new head of debate for Gustavo Petro. It should be remembered that the Colombian politician was a key player during the administration of former President Juan Manuel Santos.
The appointment generated some controversy due to the pullas that Gustavo Bolivar, head of the Senate list by the same coalition, sent to Prada in the past.
On several occasions Gustavo Bolivar pointed out Petro's new head of debate for alleged acts of corruption and even branded him a thief.
“This is how those who accompanied Galán in his fight against corruption steal. Alfonso Prada stole the SENA. Comptroller's Office found 161 irregularities. Among them, he awarded a contract of 18 billion to his wife. And Santos threw out the one he denounced!” , Bolívar wrote on his Twitter account in November 2017, citing an article in Revista Semana in which he spoke of a millionaire subscribed between SENA and 4/72 Colombian Shipping Service, whose manager was Prada's wife.
It should be recalled that in addition to being secretary general of the Colombian Presidency during the Santos period, Prada was also director of SENA; however, it should be noted that the Attorney General's Office never established that contract irregularities had occurred during that administration.
The Senator of the Historical Pact again singled out Prada for corruption in December of the same year. “#SeAcabóelañoy 1.The CNE magistrates played crazy with the Peñalosa (Mafia) recall 2.There was no Metro tender. (Obviously there are no studies) 3. Alfonso Prada and the corrupt magistrates are still rampant. 4. No one named more corrupt as anti-corruption prosecutor”, one of the triunts of Bolivar for that time reads.
In another publication, made in the middle of last year, Senator Gustavo Bolivar wrote: “Escobar's legacy: silver or lead. Legacy of the advocates: expiration of terms. Duque's legacy: the one who does it does not pay it.Legacy of Álvaro Uribe: Curul by preclusion. Best Pocket Prosecutor q Communist Magistrate (Richard Aguilar, Pulgar and Prada already complied) Disgusting!”
Had Alfonso Prada already anticipated his appointment?
Although the Colombian lawyer had not spoken before the official appointment of Gustavo Petro as chief of debate, some say that the former secretary general of the presidency had already shed light on his entry into the campaign.
This was due to a publication by Prada in which he assured that after analyzing the picture and talking to different people, he considered a union between Democrats and peace advocates relevant.
“After studying the polls, talking to friends in regions and Bogotá, learning about the history and strategies of polarization, I think it's time to build bridges of union between Democrats and peace advocates, and avoid shredding the future with more of the same,” said Alfonso Prada.
It is noteworthy that this news also generated mixed comments from politicians and citizens from other shores. For example, the former deputy minister of justice, Rafael Nieto, assured that Prada represents Santos's “quota”.
“Alfonso Prada will be Petro's head of debate. The Santos quota, they say. As in the case of Roy Barreras and Benedetti, what used to disgust them is now welcome. It's worth everything to win! “Change” for the worse!” , Nieto wrote on his Twitter account.
“The close friend and defender of the usurper Juan Manuel Santos, Alfonso Prada, will be the head of debate of Gustavo Petro. Like that, or clearer? Petro=Santos. Eye to fraud”, was the comment of María Fernanda Cabal.
