Authorities in Mexico City stopped the man who stopped his vehicle on Rio Churubusco Avenue to attack a family traveling inside a car, as elements of the Ministry of Citizen Security (SSC) secured the subject and his son.
The capital's police officers found his whereabouts on Tuesday afternoon, April 5, and transferred him to the premises of the Attorney General of Justice of the CDMX (FGJ), a agency that was already investigating the events after becoming aware of the attack thanks to a video posted on social networks.
The head of the SSC, Omar García Harfuch reported on what happened through his social networks:
“It is reported that a few minutes ago @SSC_CDMX arrested these people who violently assault a family for no reason whatsoever. Thanks to the citizens for all the reports they sent us,” said the official.
During the early hours of this Tuesday, photographs of the subject circulated on social networks in the company of his son, who is presumed to have also participated in the attack, since he would be the driver of the white sedan-type car that could be seen in the video.
The events recorded by a person traveling inside the attacked vehicle took place on Río Churubusco Avenue at the height of Axis 3 Oriente, where the aggressors shut down their victims by suddenly braking in front of the car.
Later, a senior man came down from the unit with a long metal object to hit the chest of the family vehicle; the subject verbally assaulted the driver, who closed his window for fear of being hit with the tube, while the assailant proceeded to hit the left side of the vehicle with force.
Journalist Carlos Jiménez assured that the capital's prosecutor's office would prosecute the aggressor for at least four crimes, but did not specify whether the victims of the attack had already formalized their complaint to the authorities.
In the same way, he assured that he found his identity thanks to his Facebook profile, which he would have deactivated after being located and displayed on social networks, as this would have been key for the authorities to find his whereabouts.
“With regard to a video circulated on social networks where there is an assault on a car in which several people were traveling, the @FiscaliaCDMX reports that it has launched an investigation folder for criminal news and is looking for the injured to file their formal complaint,” the agency reported on Monday night, 4.
The reports on social networks have also helped to locate the subject and his son, who were reportedly arrested while driving through the streets of the capital aboard the same vehicle they used for the assault, whose number of license plates was widely disseminated on Twitter.
So far, the reasons for the men's aggression against a partner and a minor are unknown, but it is presumed that a road incident caused the anger of both men and so they would have reacted violently to the family of the other car.
The capital's security corporations have not released details of the detention, so it is not known whether the aggressors will be kept in custody or released, since it is also unknown whether the investigation folder opened by the case contains the victims' complaints and their testimony.
