Young man jumped into the Magdalena river to avoid being killed and died of drowning

In the municipality of Puerto Wilches, after two days of searches by rescue agencies, was found the body of a 20-year-old boy identified as Brayan Castro, who had jumped into the Magdalena River to prevent armed men who were shooting from attacking his life.

The events occurred at the beginning of March, when the young man apparently died as a result of drowning by the river flow and not by the gunfire fired by the hit men who attacked fire in the La Arenera sector, the same place where the recent murder of Luis Gabriel López was recorded.

The mayor of Puerto Wilches, Jairo Toquica, spoke against the discovery of the rescue agencies, congratulating them for their timely action and commented on the concrete fact of the death: “The three young people were in the place known as El Arenero on the banks of the Magdalena River, when, according to witnesses, individuals who triggered the firearm. The three of them jumped into the river, at a height of at least three meters, to escape the attack, but only two managed to get out alive.”

According to the investigations, the hit attack was for the Venezuelan citizen, who is allegedly a drug dealer and was going to be the victim of armed men as a result of retaliation.

In dialogue with Blu Radio, Mayor Toquica commented that “he (the victim) was accompanied by a Venezuelan citizen and there are indications that the foreigner is a vendor of hallucinogens. The young man who died of drowning was at the wrong time and in the wrong place.”
